WHAT TO SEE AND DO AT ART DUBAI, MARCH 17-19

Tour the Galleries
Learn about modern masters of the Middle East, Africa and South Asia with a curator-led tour of Art Dubai Modern, today at 6.30pm and, in the Contemporary halls, experience dynamic works by a new generation of Filipino artists in the thematic, curated Marker programme (booth B14) from 7pm.

Art Dubai’s three gallery halls, exhibiting art by more than 500 artists, with works from 1903 to the present day, are open 4-9:30pm today; Friday 2-9.30pm; Saturday 12-6.30pm.

Art Dubai Projects
This year’s programme of new commissions, curated by Yasmina Reggad, features a range of performances, plus major sculptural and site-specific works by the Cairo collective Nile Sunset Annex (Foyer 1), Moza Almatrooshi (terrace, towards Art Dubai Modern), Massinissa Selmani and Shreshta Rit Premnath (Foyer 2).

Log in to the fair’s wifi network on your arrival to experience a new film by A.i.R Dubai residency artist Lydia Ourahmane.

89Plus Dubai can be found on the water terrace: listen to stories submitted and performed by a GCC generation of creatives born in or after 1989 -- the conclusion of the two-year long project, led by artists Sarah Abu Abdallah and Abdullah Al Mutairi.

Art Dubai Radio has invited Safina Radio Project to take over the airwaves at the 2016 fair - listen to soundbites from Dhaka to Venice at the booth in Foyer 2.

RCA Secret Sale Day 
Today, Thursday, is sale day at Art Dubai and Alserkal Avenue! Arrive early to the popular anonymous exhibition, where all original works of art are yours for Dhs500; the sale starts at 4pm and goes until 9pm. View the postcards here and register early as a buyer here.

The Wedding Project
From 4-7:30pm, wander through the rooms of The Wedding Project, a new immersive, performative project playfully transforming two rooms at Madinat Jumeirah into an artist-created wedding hall (curated by the Delfina Foundation). Read more here




Global Art Forum: The Future Was continues today at 3pm 

Thursday's programme begins at 3pm and includes ‘postcards from the future’ by writer and commentator Mishaal Al Gergawi and the Museum of the Future’s Noah Raford, plus a presentation (‘The Future Was the Cloud’) by João Ribas of the Serralves Museum of Contemporary Art.

Don’t miss discussions, films, presentations and performances by award-winning writer Lauren Beukes with artist Sophia Al Maria; the Emirati sci-fi novelists Mohammad Al Hammadi and Noura Al Noman; Yasmina Reggad with dancers Lana Fahmi and Alaa Krimed; and artist eL Seed in conversation with MoMA director Glenn D. Lowry.

Art Dubai Cinema: Events in a Cloud Chamber

Art Dubai Cinema debuts the celebrated art documentary Events in a Cloud Chamber by Ashim Ahluwalia with Akbar Padamsee tonight at 8pm in the Global Art Forum Tent on Fort Island. (Free and open to all.)

Art Dubai Cinema continues Friday at 8pm with Adel Abidin's Michael and concludes with a rolling programme throughout Cinema Saturday.

9:15-9:30pmDoa Aly: 'Free Radicals'  the renowned Cairo-based artist’s popular live performance takes place again this evening. Location: Foyer 1

Sheikha Manal Little Artists Program

Today, Friday and Saturday, children (aged 5-17) and families are invited to participate in the Sheikha Manal Little Artists Program workshops and discovery tours, held in partnership with The Cultural Office.

Led by UK-based artist Polly Brannan, the workshop programme features sets, props and visuals created by the participating children and families for various acts including songs, comedy, poetry and puppet shows.
